NEW DeSignz "Equalizer" bolt

From the Web site:

This is the new bolt your hearing about, its the latest in cutting edge tech!!  First, here are some benefits by using this bolt.

  • NO O-rings, never requires lube..
  • Actual field tests show an increase in velocity of  12-30 FPS over stock with some nearing 30+ FPS during initial HPA tests
  • Greatly improved consistency.  Some may think the chrono is not reading.
  • Efficiency increases up to 36% Varies from marker to marker
  • Allows you to lower input operating pressure and or decrease your dwell.
  • Delrin bolts do not wear the Impulse body like the stock aluminum bolt.  Specific surfaces on the bolt are slightly smaller to decrease even more friction.  Look closely...
  • High flow port design to stabilize the air with an ultra smooth surface finish.
  • The"Equalizer" chamber between the bolt and the ball is designed to displace air pressure over the whole back surface of the ball with the increased volume area and not just 6 holes.
  • Angled air inlet port for the best possible air flow, efficiency and less turbulence.
  • Our stock series Delrin bolt weighs only 29.5gr. considerably less than the aluminum one at 54.6gr. allowing faster cycling due to less inertia.
  • Improves accuracy by decreasing recoil while providing a quieter shot.
  • Also, don't be surprised when you go chrono and the alarm sounds, you'll be shooting hot.
  • As pictured from top to bottom. Stock, Flush, Custom 5" and Stubby lengths.
  • Standard equipment on Toxic Impulse's.

I opened up the package that the Equalizer bolt arrived in and my first reaction was, "what the hell is this thing made of, it weighs nothing".  Looks like a delrin bolt, feels like a delrin bolt, then I weighed it.  Of all the aftermarket bolts I have tested, the Equalizer by NEW DeSIGNZ is the lightest bolt, weighing in at less than 1.0 ounce, 0.9 ounces to be exact.  So what does this mean??  Less weight equals less kick!!

Cut away view of the Equalizer bolt.

As seen above, the Equalizer bolt has VERY large holes in the bolt face.  It has the largest holes of any Impulse bolt I have seen.  I believe that this bolt is as close to being an open face bolt, as a bolt can be.

Like most of the other aftermarket bolts, the Equalizer bolt is made of Delrin and for a good reasons.  First no need to slop it up with Dow 33 because it is friction free, which means no o-rings.  I hate when those bolt o-rings break!!  Second it's light, VERY light in the case of the Equalizer, which as we know reduces kick and tends to increase efficiency.

While not really part of this review, throw a NEW DeSIGNZ Ti pull pin into the mix and reduce the weight even more.  The stock stainless steel pull pin weights 0.5 ounces while the NEW DeSIGNZ Ti pull pin weighs less than half of that weighing in at 0.2 ounces.  So combine the Equalizer with a NEW DeSIGNZ Ti pull pin and you are moving 1.1 ounces, compared to the Stock parts weighing 2.4 ounces.

When I used the Equalizer, I found it to work exactly as advertised.  I went through almost a case of paint using my 90/4500 tank.  When I say almost, I believe I gave away less than a hopper full of paint at the end of the day, and I still had air in the tank.  When playing I could not count the number of times I was able to point, aim and pull the trigger and get an elimination.  With the Equalizer and Ti pull pin, the kick was nothing.

The Equalizer is an awesome aftermarket upgrade that will make any owner happy if not ecstatic that they purchased it.  I look forward to seeing how this bolt performs in the next Bolt Chrono test.

UPDATE: The New DeSignz Equalizer bolt had the best overall performance in Bolt Chrono Test 2, Bolt Chrono Test 3 and Bolt Chrono Test 4.  This bolt is simply amazing!!!
