Bolt Chrono Test IV
Bolt Chrono Test 4, already?? Yes! After the
results from Test 3 I needed more data!!!
This time there were two goals of this
test. First, as always is to see just how these bolts perform.
The second goal was to see if I got the same mixed results with this not so
good paint in a basically stock Impulse.
The Test
For this test a stock Impulse with no
upgrades other than a Demonic Full Flow was used. Additionally I
"borrowed" a couple parts from my Adrenalin Impulse to help keep
this test as consistent as possible. The setup consisted of the following:
- The entire gun was cleaned and lubed, prior to
the test.
- The Dwell was not adjusted once the test started.
- The output
pressure on the max-flow was set at 160psi.
- For the test the air
source was a Smart Parts Low Pressure Max-Flow compressed air tank running on gun.
This is the same tank used in Bolt Chrono Test 3.
- The paint used
in the test was a generic "practice paint". This paint was
not consistent in size and in the test results the variance shows.
Same paint from the same case as last time.
- The barrel was a 14" Freak with a .684 insert.
Same barrel as last time.
- Before each first shot was recorded two
clearing shots were taken.
- The bolts were tested in the order
listed below. The first 10 shots were recorded, then the bolt
was switched. After the last bolt was tested, I returned to the
first bolt and recorded the second 10 shots. This was done to
ensure that no one bolt go fresher paint from the top of the bag
or any other anomalies that might have happened.
- Paint was fed into the marker by an
Evolution II.
- The same Chronograph was used to record
the velocity of all shots.

The DEZign Venturi had the largest increase in velocity
over all other bolts. The IPB Werm was second and the Equalizer bolt was third.
In Bolt Chrono Test 3, the Equalizer was #1 and the IPB Werm was #3.

The Adrenalin
was the most consistent bolt, having the least amount of standard
deviation. The MAXair bolt was second, followed by the Equalizer bolt.
None of these bolts were in the top three in the last test.
One little side note....sure NOW the Adrenalin bolt
decides to come alive, why didn't it do this when not when it's was in
my AI??
Best Performance
Taking the scores from Average FPS and
Standard Deviation and adding them together we should be able to see
which bolt is the best all around bolt from this test.

Conclusion
For overall performance, which is a balance between
efficiency and consistency, the Equalizer is top. Followed by the
DEZign Venturi and MAXair. In Bolt Chrono Test 3, The Equalizer was
#1 and the DEZign Venturi was #3.
I went back and added this scoring system to all the
previous Bolt Chrono Tests. While very little has remained
consistent, one thing stands out. Since Bolt Chrono Test 2 which was
the first time I had the chance to test the Equalizer bolt from New
DeSignz it has been the best all around bolt for a balance of efficiency
and consistency. The Equalizer bolt holds the top position in the
scoring system for Tests 2, 3 and now 4.
Special thanks to Derrek "SG"
Phelps from Team Chill Factor for once again hanging out and recording the numbers while I
shoot my
Impulse over the chrono. |
