Demonic Strangler

From the Web site:

High/low rise feedtubes that can be broken down to a high rise or low rise the day of a tourney at your discretion and they decompress around your loader to lock down your loader. The feedtube and insert are made of high grade aircraft aluminum that has teeth on the inner walls of the insert and as a back up there are 2 small set screws on the top to lock onto your loader as well.....Available for Angel, Impulse, Shocker, Matrix, Autococker, & Bushmaster.

Dimensions:

The stock feed tube on an Impulse, when removed from the body of the marker, measures 2 1/2 inches tall. The Demonic Strangler feed tube measures 2 inches tall when used as a low rise and 3" tall when used as a high rise. So, depending on your setup, you can lose 1/2 an inch on your profile when using as a low rise or gain an extra ball in the ball stack when used as a high rise.

Installation:

Simple, remove your old feed tube but unscrewing it and install the Strangler by screwing it in.  Be careful not to cross the threads when installing the Strangler, or you will risk damaging the body of your Impulse.

If your feed tube was glued in properly or recently, you will have a VERY difficult time removing it. Smart Parts uses green loc-tite to hold the feed tube in place.  Use a small heat source like a lighter or hair dryer to loosen the loc-tite.  Be patient, apply a little heat and attempt to remove.  Repeat until the old feed tube comes loose.  If you are willing to
sacrifice your stock feed tube, you can use pliers to remove it.

If you have an older Impulse that has a glued on feed tube, you will not be able to use the Strangler without some kind of modification.  This is rare, and only affects some Impulses with a serial # lower than 3000.

How does it work?

Like similar locking feed tubes, there are three pieces to the locking portion of the Strangler, shown in the picture below from left to right is the outer neck holder, the inner neck holder the feed tube (for lack of better terms) and on the right is the extension for the high rise, or warp-feed adapter.

First you loosen the outer neck holder by turning it counter clockwise (anti-clockwise if you are an Angel owner). It is threaded to the feed tube so if you unscrew it too much it will come off of the feed tube. This allows the inner neck holder to open up. Simply slide in your revy to the desired location and turn the outer neck holder clockwise to tighten the inner neck holder. At first it might seem a little awkward, but after trying it a couple times you will see, its not difficult at all. I found it was much easier to tighten the Demonic Strangler when the barrel was not my impulse. That allowed me to get a better angle.  Once done, you can tighten the grip even more by screwing down the three set screws.

There is a small lip inside the outer neck holder to keep the inner neck holder from falling out when the your loader is not there.

A major design improvement over other gripping type feed tubes is that the insert in the Strangler is aluminum, not plastic.  Myself like many others have had the plastic inserts start out working great but over time develop cracks that lead to breaks, which causes the plastic to stop gripping.  There is none of that plastic here!!  In addition, to an aluminum insert, the insert is also gnarled to grip even better.  While this will chew up the bottom of your loader just a little, it's well worth it.

Comments:

Is it a high rise, a low rise or a warp feed adapter.... simple....it's all three.

This is the second release of the popular Demonic Strangler.  While the first one was good, this one is even better.  This version of the Strangler has 3 set screws vs. the 2 found on the original.  This was done of offer better angles for tightening and more grip.  The insert is gnarled to add extra gripping power to lock down your loader, whatever it might be.

The outside of the extension piece and the lower feed neck have a grip able texture.  This allows you to easily grab and turn without your hands slipping because they have a little paintball oil on them.

Note:
In the near future, the Strangler as well as the inserts will be available in Black, Silver, Evil Red, Evil Blue and Evil Green.  A special limited run of Pewter and Claret is also planned.  The Evil colors will be dark versions of the standard colors.  All of the mentioned colors will available in both Matte and Polished finishes.

There will also be a special Red-to-Orange-to-Yellow fade insert available to allow the flame milling to really jump out.

There are also rumors of some limited edition Stranglers with team logos or initials milled in to replace the current flame pattern.

The Details

  • MSRP: $70.00
  • Pro's: This is by far, hands down the ultimate feed tube.  It's every option you could desire in one.
  • Cons: This is not a flaw of the Demonic Strangler, but in the body of the Impulse.  The threads in the body a stock Impulse are short.  In some of the custom Impulses they are even shorter.  I recommend you find the setup you want and use a little blue loc-tite to hold the Strangler into the body of your Impulse.  This will save you from a headache down the line.
