Hypersportworks I Frame From the Web site:
Comments Ultimately this is the question on everyone's mind...Is the I Frame worth all that money. Read on and you can decide. So as the description from the web site tells us the I Frame is a replacement for the solenoid tray and stock trigger frame. Initially when I opened the package and played with the trigger I found it to be a little unusual. The trigger made an odd sound when I was "firing" it. Once I installed the board that odd sound went away and was replaced by a VERY quick solenoid click. A couple quick features about the I Frame. The I Frame has a built in trigger, so there are no choices for double, flat, with a curve, etc. What you see in the picture below is what you get (minus the DYE stickies...those are mine).
You can also see in the picture above that the back of the grip is curved for a more comfortable fit in your hand. And for all you lovers of stickie grips, you can also see that stickies fit just fine. I purchased four stainless steel screws from my local hardware store for less than $0.50 for that extra cool look. Installation Installation was simple.
How do you adjust the trigger?? I know where the set screws are, but the I Frame I received was completely setup. All I did was drop in the board and go. There are three set screws. Both post-travel and spring tension are set internally. The pre-travel set screw is also set internally, but that is accessible through the battery storage area so it is easy to get to when the I Frame is on the body.
On to the Testing I first tested the I Frame on a non-Vision Imp. With brand new batteries in the Revy I took a couple shots. The I Frame felt good. Then I decided to "rip" on the trigger. I was a paint blending fool. I think 2 balls made it out before I started chopping. So I figure it must have been a bad ball or something. I switch revys (too much paint in this one, I'll clean it later) and try it again. This time I slowly ramp up. I start with a slow rhythm...so far so good...then I slowly increase my firing speed...and then...chop. For those of you that do not know, I have a slow trigger finger. I have used a non-Vision Impulse for over a year with a Blade trigger and never chopped a ball (except the times I do not turn my Revy on but that does not count!). I also own 2 Angels with sweet trigger jobs and I have not chopped with either one of those. So when I say the I Frame is fast, it's REALLY FAST!! For test #2 I decided to slap the I Frame on a Vision Impulse. I was again amazed at how fast the I Frame allowed me to fire that Impulse. The Vision kicked in several times preventing me from chopping. The combination of the I Frame and Vision Imp is good!! Side Note: I really only had two complaints about the I Frame and both are minor. I had a Shocktech drop forward on one of the Impulses I tested with and when I installed the I Frame the grip moving forward caused the barrel plug from the gadget gas-thru grip to get in the way of the Shocktech DF. This is because the Shocktech DF goes forward then slopes down. I think if I had a DF like a Smart Parts DF this would not be an issue. Those of you with regular gas thru grips might need to use a 90' angle if you have a DF. My other minor complaint again involves the gas-thru gadget grip. While this will not be a problem for most people, you can not remove the gadget gas-thru grip while the I Frame is installed. The trigger guard gets in the way of the 90' elbow. To remove the gadget grip I had to remove the I Frame. Like I said, not a big deal, but it is my job to point these things out. Update Hyper Sport Works has stated that the newer I Frames, which should be done by beginning/middle of January 2002, will use the same set screw block as the Hyper grip frames for the Shockers. Making the spring tension and post travel screws much easier to get to and adjust. And also allowing the trigger to use a much lighter spring if the user would want it that way. LATEST NEWS:
