Solenoid Airflow Maximizer for the Impulse
From the Web site:
Maximizes the air
flow to the solenoid while restricting backflow to the valve.
Effectively
separates the solenoid chamber from the valve chamber.
Drop in design - no
drilling or tapping needed.

The Isolation modifications come in two different flavors.
This one like most others is flow restrictor design. What that means is that
it does not separate the solenoid from the valve but it restrict the valve from
"sucking" air away from the solenoid. The benefit of this design are that
it is a drop in modification and does not require any tapping of holes so that they can be
plugged. The other type of Isolation modification is the isolation design. The
Isolation design separates the air flow and feeds the valve and solenoid separately.
The only tools needed for this installation is a little
Loc-tite and a set of allen wrenches.

| Preparing to install the maximizer, that small
piece in the middle of the picture. |
Of all the restrictor versions of the Isolation modifications
this is by far the smallest and IMO easiest to install. The actual Maximizer is a
little smaller that that in the picture above (and you only get one). Installation
is a piece of cake and the instructions provided were clear and easy to follow. How
did it perform?? Exactly as advertised. I had an Impulse that had a terrible
time cycling without paint and now it will dry fire all day without missing a shot.
As expected I did have to adjust the dwell slightly making it longer after the Maximizer
was installed. During my initial testing the Impulse did not show significant signs
of first shot drop-off and was more consistent from shot to shot.
Installation instructions as provided by Performance
Concepts
- IMPORTANT: Remove paint and air/CO2 source from marker.
- Remove vertical reg./gas thru grip. (if installed)
- Remove Vertical Air receiver. (if installed)
- Remove small allen set screw located near the air inlet port
on the body of the Impulse.
- Remove the front cap, spring, valve seat and the front 1/8
plug in the lower air chamber. If you are looking at the front of the Impulse the
plug will be located on the lower left side of the front of the body.
- Check inside the lower air chamber to make sure the filter is
in place and the opening is not distorted. If the filter is ok then go to step 8.
- If there is a problem with the filter the rear plug in the
lower air chamber and the transfer hole plug (located on the side of the Imp body) can be
removed and the filter can be gently pushed out for inspection. After inspection
replace the rear plug and the transfer plug with suitable loctite.
- Insert the Solenoid Air Maximizer into the front of the lower
air chamber. The smaller diameter should be inserted toward the rear of the marker.
Gently push the Maximizer into the port until it slides past the hole for the small
allen screw from step 4. The eraser side of a pencil can be used to push the
Maximizer into place.
- Reinstall the small allen screw, front port plug with suitable
loctite. Reinstall the valve seat, spring and front cap without using loctite.
- Reinstall the Vertical Air receiver and any vertical regulator
or gas thru that was originally mounted.
A qualified technician should perform the installation.
Performance Concepts is not responsible for any damage caused to your marker during
the installation of this product, when not installed by a qualified technician.
Conclusion
If you are the type of person that does not want to shell out
a lot of $$ for upgrades and/or you are not comfortable tapping a hole in your Impulse
this upgrade is for you! It packs all the performance of the other restrictor style
Iso Mods in a small and simple design.
The Details
- Installation: Installation is simple and will
require nothing more than a set of allen wrenches, some loc-tite and a few minutes of your
day.
- MSRP: Price is $14.
- Options: None. But none are needed.
- Pro's: Inexpensive and VERY easy to
install. Almost impossible to screw this one up and it gets the job done.
- Cons: None really. This mod is
completely internal. While this is not really a con, you can not tell by looking at
a marker if it has the Solenoid Airflow maxamizer installed or not. But if you fire
the Impulse in question, you will quickly find the answer.
