Imperial Paintball Aluminum KKv2 Trigger

From the Web site:

We took our re-designed Wermstick and added a little twist, along with another adjustment. The new KK adjustment has 2 purposes. By tightening it to the front pivot pin, you can eliminate any side to side play. OR tighten the KK adjustment, then adjust the remaining pre- travel, post-travel, & switch actuation to as short a trigger pull as you like. Now loosen the KK adjustment until the trigger switch is actuated when pushing UP on the front lip of the trigger. Now when firing, insane rates of fire are possible because the marker fires at the pull of the trigger and when the trigger is pushed up. Simply alternating you trigger finger from pull to push results in a very fast ROF. Recommended for impulses with vision.

So what makes this trigger different?

This trigger has something no other Impulse trigger has, 4 adjustment points.  Looking at the graphic below to see the four adjustments and what they are used for:

Picture from www.imperialpaintball.com

  1. Post Travel.  This allows you to adjust the amount of travel, often referred to as play in the trigger After the trigger engages the microswitch (fires the Impulse).
  2. Side-to-Side play (aka the KK Adjustment).  This set screw holds two values.  The first of which is to eliminate any side-to-side play by locking the trigger onto the front trigger pin.  The second I will talk about later.
  3. Pre Travel.  This setting controls the amount of play the trigger has before the microswitch is engaged.
  4. Switch Actuation  This is the set screw that pushes on the microswitch, causing your Impulse to fire.

Beyond the four adjustment points, there are a couple of points of interest with the new IPB trigger:

  • First, all four set screws come pre-coated with loc-tite.  This will save you some time and headaches as you adjust the trigger to your liking.
  • The second change from prior IPB triggers is that all four set screws are adjustable externally.  Now you can install your KKv2 trigger, reassemble your Impulse and work on the trigger with out having to take everything apart just to fine tune the trigger.
  • Like previous IPB triggers, this one is has a nice smooth finish.
  • Some of the early IPB triggers were thin.  This trigger, like the later IPX trigger is fatter, similar to other aftermarket triggers.

So what the hell is the KK Adjustment?

While I might know who "KK" is, that's not the question at hand.  We want to know how this KK adjustment works.  That's simple, when seting up your impulse trigger, first lock down the KK adjustment (set screw #2).  Then adjust the other three set screws to your liking.  Now slowly loosen the KK adjustment (set screw #2).  Now try this, instead of shooting from the bottom of your trigger, use the top and bounce back and forth between the trigger and the little lip in the front.  If you do it just right, your Impulse will fire when you pull back, and again when you push forward.  Is this illegal, nope.  The trigger is only firing once per trigger action.  You are just getting two actions in the normal amount of effort it takes to get one!!

Installation:

  1. Remove the trigger frame & solenoid tray from the body.
  2. Disconnect the battery.
  3. Remove the board from the solenoid tray.
  4. CAREFULLY remove the the two c-clips that hold the trigger pins in place.
  5. Remove the two trigger pins.  Remember which goes in front and which goes in back.
  6. Remove the current trigger.
  7. Slide the KKv2 trigger into position.
  8. Re-install the trigger pins (in the correct order) and put the c-clips on.
  9. Re-install the board and plug in the battery.
  10. Put the trigger frame & solenoid tray back on the body.
  11. Adjust to your liking!!

Installation is that easy, it's the adjustments that a little time.  This is a good thing.  The reason it will take some time is because every person out there has a slightly different preference.  Some people like the trigger tight to the frame while others like it to slop out.  Often with Vision, people will have a little extra post travel to allow your loader to keep up with the insane rates of fire this trigger will assist you in getting.

The Details

  • Installation: It's a trigger, it's not hard!
  • MSRP: $42.00
  • Options: The price above is for a polished silver finish.  For an additional $2.00, you can get this trigger anodized in any of the following colors: Black, Blue, Red Green, Purple, Orange and Yellow.  But knowing Werm like I do, I'm sure he can do other colors upon request.
  • Pro's:  This is by far the most adjustable trigger out there.  If you like to tinker to find the perfect setup, this trigger is it!
  • Cons: Because this is so adjustable, you are going to want to keep playing with the adjustments until you get it just the way you like it..
